Where is the no power in trailer connector?

Where is the no power in trailer connector?

I have no power at the plug in the rear of the vehicle. I have connected the red power cable to the stud and there is a 40 amp fuse in. I have power at the stud and the fuse is good. The wire all the way back to the plug seems to be good but still no power.

What to do if your trailer has no power?

Running jumper wires from the light grounds to the main trailer connector ground can help. If your trailer has a lot of running lights, there could be too much power draw which could also lead to blown fuses. Switching to LED lights with much lower amperage would help in this situation. Take a look at the help articles I included as well.

How do you connect a trailer to a 7-way?

The system requires a power draw on the 7-way and then holding the brake pedal for about 3 seconds until your dash registers “trailer connected”. At that point, the vehicle will deliver the 12V power to your trailer connector and not before.

Why is my tow ready 7 way connector not lighting up?

If the light marked 12V on the Tow Ready 7-Way Connector Tester, part # TR20117, is not lighting up you will need to check to see if you need to install a fuse to activate the 12 volt power or if there is connection that might need to be made under the hood.

How can I get power to my trailer plug?

This is where you should start. Connect your test light to a good ground source, a clean, not rusted bolt head will work. Now turn on the emergency flashers and parking lights. Solid on Pin 3 and since you say you have the 12v feed connected under the hood then pin 4 should be light as well.

Why is my harness not connecting to my trailer?

Ground location for harness or trailer connector is weak or ground connection has loosened over time. Harness has been overloaded due to excessive draw from lights or a short in the trailer wiring. Using one turn signal engages the turn signals on both sides of the trailer.

If they are clean or still no power after cleaning, I would check your grounding connections. Make sure your grounds are firmly connected to a clean, bare metal surface. Next, test the pins on the connector where the wiring harness plugs into the truck using a circuit tester like Item # 40376.
