When should rechargeable batteries be charged?
When should rechargeable batteries be charged?
It seems like there’s always contradictory tech advice going around: always let your batteries drain completely before recharging them so they’ll last longer, plug your batteries in when they’re between 25 and 75 percent full for maximum battery life, plug your batteries in whenever you feel like it.
How often should batteries be charged?
Typically, a modern phone battery’s (lithium-ion) lifespan is 2 – 3 years, which is about 300 – 500 charge cycles as rated by manufacturers. After that, the battery capacity will drop by roughly 20%.
Should you discharge rechargeable batteries before charging?
Do I need to charge my new rechargeable batteries when I receive them before the first use? Yes, before you use your new NiMH batteries for the first time you must charge them fully. The first several times that you use your NiMH batteries you may find that they run down (discharge) quickly during use.
How do you know when Energizer rechargeable batteries are charged?
– There are two green LEDs on your charger to indicate when batteries are charging.
Is the chassis battery the same as the coach battery?
The chassis battery and the coach battery are 2 separate battery systems – except they both will get charged by a common method. All chassis battery systems are based on a single 12 volt battery – that will allow high amperage draw (especially if a diesel).
Why is my coach battery not fully charging?
A drop in the house battery bank voltage from 13.3 to 12.1 in just a couple of minutes indicates either a MASSIVE draw or much more likely one or more bad batteries. So, I would start by fully charging them and have them load tested. A bad battery can give all kinds of weird symptoms.
Is the coach battery charged by the alternator?
Rich. The Inverter is a PowerSource PC50 producing up to 50A at 12VDC. The alternator is charging the chassis battery just fine, and I’ve verified the output of the alternator. But I don’t think the coach batteries are charged by the alternator… is that correct?
Can a coach battery be used in an RV?
As a safety on many RV vehicles, there is a switch on the dash that will allow the RV’er to combine the chassis and coach battery power while tying to start the engine or the generator. This should be done only in an emergency – and carefully!

Why does my coach battery go dead when plugged in?
If you can measure an increase in DC voltage at the battery bank when the coach is plugged in, then the battery charge circuit is at least complete and probably working. If the voltage does not go up when plugged in, look for a blown fuse in the charge circuit in the converter/charger.

What do I need to clean my coach battery?
However, the battery cables for both the chassis and coach batteries must be cleaned. A good steel wire brush and top post battery cleaner are really all that’s needed. Turn off all your battery Main Switches, disconnect from shore power, have your generator off and go to it.
