What kind of engine does a workhorse Class A motorhome have?

Workhorse Class A Motorhome I have a 8.1 liter GM engine in… I have a 8.1 liter… I have a 8.1 liter GM engine in a 2005 Workhorse chassis motorhome. The engine has Banks low restriction air intake and exhaust systems. I frequently get a 0131 O2 sensor low voltage code. The engine will immediately start to run badly.

What should I do about my workhorse 8.1 engine?

It can get 180 degrees under where the fuel line is. Best fix is the Banks headers with single exhaust on the right side of the frame. That fixed all the problems on my 2006 Winnebago 38J Workhorse W24 8.1 and Allison 6 Speed transmission, 35,000 miles on coach.

When does the workhorse 8.1L gas 2004 start?

How many miles does a GM 8.1 workhorse engine run?

The mechanical portion of the 8.1 was built to run 300,000 miles if all service intervals are met and the rpm’s are not pushed. Deliver companies do run engines hard and long! These engines are built for torque not high RPM numbers They are not warranted for 300,000 miles though!!!

The 8.1 is a heavy breather, the other item could be the MAP sensor. Not that common though. Have well over 150,000 miles on the one in our 3/4 ton Suburban. There is definitely a reason they call them Texas Cadillac’s. The only thing they will not pass is a gas station.

Is the GM 454 Vortec and 8.1 workhorse engines?

Nurse Barbara, the 454 and the 8.1 are built on the same block. I am not sure but I beleive the 454 is a throttle body injection and the 8.1 is a multi port injection. And yes either one will do well on a coach up to 34 or 35 feet. more then that you not preform too well. Thank you for that reply. You are the only one who knew that much.

When did Chevy stop making the Workhorse chassis?

Then Fleetwood used it on their 2002 Southwind and we saw no complaints so far about the work and performance of the Chevy Workhorse chassis. The chassis was discontinued about the same time GM stopped producing the 8.1-liter engine for vehicles.
