What happens if holding tank is full?
What happens if holding tank is full?
Everything is based on the size of the tank and the amount of water which you use. Everything (showers, toilets, dishwashers etc), will drain into the holding tank. If the holding tank becomes full, it can back up into the house.
What are the sensors on a holding tank?
The problem is that fluid holding crud builds up on the tank walls and that fools the sensors into thinking there is fluid in the tank. If it’s made by Ventline as many are, there is a 68k ohm resistor between the full and 2/3 sensor and one from the 2/3 sensor to the 1/3 sensor. The wire from the panel connects to the full sensor.
Why are my black tank sensors not working?
Within the RV community, misreading black water holding tank sensors are known for being one of the most frustrating issues anyone can run into! It can sometimes seem like you’ve tried everything possible to restore your sensors, and they still won’t read correctly.
Where are the resistors on a water tank sensor?
If it’s made by Ventline as many are, there is a 68k ohm resistor between the full and 2/3 sensor and one from the 2/3 sensor to the 1/3 sensor. The wire from the panel connects to the full sensor. On some units the resistors are potted in a small plastic cup close by the tank with one wire leading from it back to the panel.
How long can you leave sensor cleaner in a holding tank?
By allowing Sensor Cleaner to work longer, you’re giving the active microbes more time to digest the waste clinging to your sensor probes. Sensor Cleaner can be left inside a tank for weeks or months at a time. It will do no damage to your holding tanks with this extended working time.

How does a water tank monitor system work?
Contact the maker of the monitor system– no need to guess how it works. The general theory behind any sensor where some part of the sensor enters the tank itself is that the bottom most sensor would not provide any reading (empty) until the water level rises enough to touch the probe above creating a circuit.
Are there any non contact water tank sensors?
The non-contact sensors are better but not foolproof either. According to their web site the SeeLevel system can also be fooled but at least it just stops giving a reading rather than showing a false one. That is your signal to clean the tank walls.
