What causes a step motor to stall out?

One of the major causes of step motor stalling is a phenomenon called resonance. As motors accelerate and decelerate their shafts typically oscillate, causing variations in shaft speed and position, Figure 1. These variations require additional motor torque to quell, thus reducing the available torque for the commanded move.

Can a stepper motor be set back to home?

Because the position of the stepper motor is not know after the microcon is powered up, often than not, the needle of the stepper motor move past the home position and that is not desirable. Is there any idea on how to move the needle of the stepper motor back to home without overshooting the home position..?

What does a stall look like on a motorhome?

The Stall looks very much like the stalls in a parking lot of a Big Box store, but longer to account for the size of many Motorhomes and Trailers. They are either gravel or paved. One just drives through and stops where the hooks ups line up where they are on your Motorhome.

What causes a step motor to burn up again?

Just replacing the motor will cause the motor to burn up again. This is not a common problem with step motors unless there is a bad driver. Example of a bipolar winding and example of a unipolar winding. In a bipolar winding the current flow on the coils is reversed, which reverses electromagnetic polarity.

Why does my stepper motor keep stalling out?

As such, you really need rotary encoders on each motor adjusted to give you the best phase angles and torque so you can control each motor appropriately. If you ARE using phase angle feedback already and it’s still stalling, either you have a software or feedback issue, or the load is simply too much for the motor.

Why does my car stall when I Turn on the engine?

If your fuel pump quits or isn’t working properly, then your engine won’t get the fuel it needs to run, which results in the engine stalling. You won’t be able to restart your car if the fuel pump quits. 4.

What happens if your RV step is not working?

CAUTION: Never work under an RV automatic electric step. Serious injury can occur if the steps extend or retract unintentionally. Always remove power from the steps of your motorhome or travel trailer before working on them. The most common issues electric RV steps face are not retracting and not extending properly.
