Why does my Jayco have a one way valve?

My problem turned out jayco also has a one way valve in the cheap plastic hose connect part. Pulled that out and found was stopping full mains pressure, unfortunately there was enough pressure in the vans water to give good pressure for about 30 seconds which threw me for a while.
