Do air bags help the ride quality?

The addition of a helper air spring, airbag, or air suspension spring to the system can make a ‘day and night’ difference in your towing experience, alleviating the aforementioned towing ails by adding additional support on demand. The result is better overall control of the vehicle and a safer, smoother ride.

The air ride suspension system replaces the traditional shock/strut/spring setup with a series of air bags that sit in between the ride axle and the body of the vehicle.

While no car is completely smooth, it should not be bouncing or produce a rough ride frequently. If you have a car with a suspension air bag, you’ll notice if the ride is dramatically different.

What to do if your air bags are not inflating?

If not, check the pressure protection valve. If your valve has an internal dump function, it should be a normally closed valve, pull that air line and make sure that it has no pressure unless the dump switch is flipped.

Why is my suspension air bag not working?

Anytime a pneumatic device can’t keep air contained, it’s usually caused by a small leak. When this happens, the automatic air compressor that can sense the air pressure inside of the suspension air bag will frequently activate in order to maintain the right air pressure.
