Crawlers - How To Discuss

By Sophia Aguilar |

Crawlers

When a crawler visits a website, it obtains all of the website's content (ie text) and stores it in a database. It also stores all external and internal links to the site. The crawler will visit the saved links later and navigate from one website to another. During this process, the crawler collects and indexes every website that contains links to at least one other website.

A crawler is a program that search engines use to crawl the Internet, including your website. Crawlers, also known as Google bots, crawlers, web crawlers, or bots, allow search engines to crawl and analyze websites on the Internet in order to accurately rank and index them. Crawlers visit your website to collect information about website navigation, performance and content, and to add and update search engine index information.

Search engine crawlers are responsible for discovering new web pages and adding them to the search engine's index. Making your website visible to robots is essential for any website that wants to be found and indexed by a search engine.
