Coil Spring Corroded - How To Discuss

I need to replace the coil springs in my car, do they rust? 3

Hello

I have just received my MOT and although it has been tested, it is said that the two springs in front of me are damaged.

During my 3/4 months of service, I was told that one of them was also looking a little rusty. . .

The question is, should I change it? I can sell a car in 2 months ... I was told that replacing it would not be so expensive (any idea? This is a Toyota MR2 2000).

What is the danger if I do not change it, is it likely to get worse? I was told that SD PS is the biggest cause of damage to the coil spring so I am very careful about it ... I drive 400/500 miles every week and in addition to using my car a lot, I don't want to be dengue ... and what if they suddenly crack?

Normally I would trade it, but like I said, maybe I'll sell the car soon, is it worth it?

Thank you very much

CT p You do not guarantee that spring will last for one year. This is the only point of failure test in this point. Diagnosis is not part of the test itself and is only RS's opinion - they can be stopped tomorrow or they can last up to 2 years.

Coil springs can (and will) break. We change the springs in the garage almost every day.

What happens if they break depends on the design of the suspension and the shape of the springs: with some cars nothing happens, with others the car sinks and in the worst case a part of the spring punctures the tire. Blows it up

Whether you want to change it is entirely up to you. You should always work in pairs to avoid new glasses and cracked glasses. The wings have been shown solely to give a sense of proportion. The wings have been shown solely to give a sense of proportion.

Helical spring car

Hello,

There are so many coil springs that I usually switch to a tighter, lower type (with better stabilizers, polyurethane bushings and a tighter, more adjustable gas mount) to improve car handling, which I really like. Not interested Don't listen to the standard suspension system!

The eBay offers a set of 4 springs that drop a 30mm or 40mm car for just over 100 pounds. Of course, I've seen cars with broken coil springs (when one or two springs break, the springs spread upwards to fill the broken part, cars (sit deep in this corner). I've seen broken glasses. I don't want to drive on the side of the road if it breaks!

I will definitely do it. The lower and hard assembly presents the car better and better. Compensation is specific to the workshop, not the beneficiaries!

I have been driving and repairing cars for 46 years. I have never seen a spring break. I only saw the broken arrow once. You are drowning I think they can. They don't want loyalty to tell you not to take your place, because if you break, what you don't do, you can lose control and overturn the car.

Looks like someone in the repair business needs a little more cash for Christmas. Springs can burst, but this is rare unless you live in a highly corrosive environment. Squeeze tightly and rotate with a large fork and you will find that the only problem with the coil is the unknown color or the protective coating of the plastic. If this is a Ford, I suggest you replace it immediately. :)

What is a car ??? Buick VADO ??? ?? Euro ?? Different cars, different answers. The coil must be replaced, but different manufacturers make coils with different spring weights for different applications. Keep in mind that the Mount or Streets feature also changes the way you roll.

Thoroughly clean the coil with high pressure water or high pressure air and solvent. Check for rusty retaining clips or patches and replace those that are highly rusty. Check each bobbin ring for seams. If it is a hole, replace the roller; If it is a hole, paint it with good quality paint to attack corrosion. If they are not deep punctures, they are unlikely to break. If it breaks down badly and breaks or breaks, you may lose control of the vehicle.

Easy for me If the springs are in a state of dengue, meaning they will probably break in 12 months, the car will not keep its promise. Replace springs if you have a car. If you plan to sell in the next 6 months, forget about it because what to do depends on the next list.

After 35 years behind the wheel, I never had to change springs, I changed supports and struts.
