You can’t connect the generator unless you have a transfer switch installed between your furnace and circuit breaker. This installation should be done by a professional electrician. Why do my lights not come on when not connected to shore power?

With 12 volts present when the charger is running when on shore power, one would suspect there is a wire routing issue, as you should get 12 volts from both the charger and or the batteries if things are connected properly. I have a feeling that you do not have 110 volts from the inverter output when you are not connected to shore power.
