Are generators worth fixing?
Are generators worth fixing?
When their parts inventory is exhausted it may be impossible to repair the unit. Or, retrofitting the equipment may not be worth the expense. The costs associated with repairs and the risk of unreliable equipment will ultimately outweigh the price of a new generator system.
Why is my genorator generator not generating power?
Try flashing. Use a multi-meter to test, never the on-board meters. Check connections, breakers. It could be a safety circuit preventing power. More serious would be bad windings, damage in the generator head or diode problems. My genorator is running perfectly fine but it will not put out any electricity Look in manual for flashing routine.
What happens if the capacitor on a generator is not charged?
If the generator has not been used for an extended period the magnetism can be lost and the capacitor will not be charged. If this occurs the capacitor must be ‘field flashed’ to restore its charge so the rotor can once again be excited.
Can a generator run without batteries after starting?
Not all generators can run without batteries after starting. You will need to consult an electrician. Could be breakers. Could be misue of generator (i.e. too much load). The transfer switch must be rated to protect the generator from being over-taxed.
Why is my house battery charger not working?
When I plug into Shore Power (50 Amp) or to Generator Power (7.5KW), voltage does not change, which would seem to indicate the charger in the Inverter/Charger (Xantrex 458) is not working. My suspicion is my house batteries are somehow preventing the charger from kicking in.
